I would love to point you to some law firm websites that I know about that are absolutely lame. If I did it would be unseemly and --no matter what I say-- it would look like I'm picking on my competitors. The saddest examples are the ones where the law firm is basically saying "Look at us, we are so tech-savvy! We have new printers, and we think technology is important." Except they don't update their websites.
Why?
Because the bigger the law firm, the more that people who want change have to endure the committee process. Updating the website (i.e. 'change') is just too damn hard. Which is a shame, because, as the Wall St. Journal reports (subscription required) even the Nigerians E-mail scammers have updated their E-mail pitch recently to include a reference to the war in Iraq. Of course, if they ever get really successful you can expect a committee structure to evolve and hamper further efforts to remain nimbly responsive to market forces.
Steven Minor is pleased to announce the birth of his new weblog The SW Virginia Law Blog (with XML feed). Actually, the blog has been going since early this year (or so it appears). He plans to cover mostly topics of interest to lawyers in SouthWest Virginia.
Madden & Soto is a law firm based in Alabama that does a variety of things. The main legal page is here, but their main/weblog page is here (no XML feed, though). Domingo Soto appears to be the attorney who is most actively involved in posting to the weblog.
