I just got in from the Oscar Gala. What a complete and total blast - I say that now while I'm still pleasantly looped. I may feel very differently tomorrow when I fullly comprehend my bank account after the $500 plus I spent on the silent auction. All spiffy stuff though!
However, there was one killer thing - the live auction. And there was this trip to New York. For two. First class on Delta all the way. 5 nights at the Hilton on the Avenue of Americas. And the killer - two tickets to the Matisse-Picasso exhibition. So I sort of bid on it. And I sort of won - $3000 for the whole kit and kaboodle. Which is definitely a screaming fabulous deal - don't you think? I called Peter in Colorado at 9:30 PM our time, 11:30 PM his time. I told him what his credit card was going buy. Fortunately, he was still asleep.

I'm off to the Concert Association's annual Oscar Night gala fundraiser. We always have a great time - should be fun. Lots of fancy dresses, good silent auction items, and of course the Oscars!
Tonight - the Oscar's, last night - Operatic Highlight's, and Friday night - my fantasy baseball league draft. Gee, my life is just one big social whirl!

Mom, Clemmie and I went for a walk on Westchester Lagoon this afternoon. Another brilliant sunny day and our new 1/8 inch of snow creates a false but pretty winter wonderland appearance.
This picture was totally washed out from the glare. I dinked aroung with saturation in Photoshop. It looks better than it did before. But Mom's jeans are sort of an unnatural phosphorescent blue.

Let me preface my war remarks by stating that even though I think this invasion is wrong and the result of a diplomatically inept and arrogant administration, I absolutely support our troops. I want them to do well and want them safe.
With the captured and shot prisoners, I think it is now clear that we're really in a war. Yesterday I heard several "man in the street" interviews mostly along the lines of, "We're doing some serious ass whupping." That just made me sick - these people think this war is easy and that now all war is easy. It is not.
And by the way, just to give credit where credit is probably due, I also think the Bush administration and our military never thought the war would be easy.
