Pretty devasting step backwards on the health front today. Just three weeks after surgery to replace my Interstim Implant, it appears as if my implant moved and moved a great deal. Last night the implant was working great. This morning when I turned it on - nothing. Absolutely nothing. Even after I dialed it way way way up.
I've been very careful - no lifting, no exteme physical movements, etc. I did stretch and arch my back a bit in bed last night. But the implant was working after I stretched, so who knows.
I'll see my doctor's nurse tomorrow for an evaluation. There is a small chance that I could have a problem with my remote control or the implanted control unit. We'll do some testing and then if need be I'll get yet another x-ray. My butt and sacrum are going to start glowing pretty soon.
This is pretty crushing. The implanted lead was positioned perfectly, absolutely perfectly. It was right on the nerve and I was getting zotzed in exactly the right location. Even though I turned the unit on just last week, I'd already started experiencing a huge improvement. I was so happy to have it back and have it back working so well. It was worth the secod surgery to get such a great placement.
And now that perfect placement is most likely gone and I'll probably have to have surgery yet again. We may try activating another hot spot on the lead - the lead may have moved in such a manner that one of its other hot spots will be well positioned. But even if that's the case, it's obviously not anchored and could move again.
Needless to say, this sucks the big one. This stupid saga is getting very old.
