Two weeks ago, while we were in Florida, it dawned on me that I was 30 caches away from hitting the 150 milestone. I became very excited, because I knew that in two weeks we were going to be in Seattle and the Seattle area is home to a very celebrated geocache - Mission 9: Tunnel of Light. Mission 9 is a Project APE cache. Fourteen caches were set up around the world in the summer of 2001 as a promotional stunt for the Planet of the Apes remake. There are only four active caches left in the US - and Mission 9 is one of them. It's located up in the Cascade Mountains and involves quite a little hike. Because it's a cache with major cachet, it is the perfect major milestone cache! Scott, did it for his 200th cache. In reviewing the cache logs, I noted someone did it as their 500th cache. So, once I realized that I was within striking distance of 150, I wanted Mission 9 as my 150th..

However, thirty caches is a ton of caches in a two week period - twenty percent of my one-fifty goal!!!! But, I was determined. So, we did nine caches in Florida. I did eleven caches in Anchorage over a ten days (including five(!) on my birthday). And in the past three days here in Seattle, I've done nine! whew!!!!

So, as I type, here on Saturday afternoon, I'm at number one-forty nine! We've arranged for a rental car and tomorrow, we're gonna go after Mission 9 - number one-fifty!!!!

I'm very excited!!!!

We polished off the final five caches today. Based on Scott's recommendation, we did our five at the Arboretum. What a perfect spot - we did a ton of walking and ended up taking quite the tour of the Arboretum. We were a bit early on the Fall Foliage front but still some very pretty colors. And I'd love to go back in the Spring - the rhododendrons must be amazing. One cache was hidden under a giant rhody bush that must have been 30 feet tall and 30 feet wide.

Absolute fab place to spend a delightful two hours among the plants and trees! Again - another example of why geocaching is so great. One ends up sightseeing where one might not ever otherwise think of visiting!

The lush Pacific Northwest!
