This weekend has been a blast - Southwestern College homecoming!!!! This year was my class's 25th reunion. Gads - I remember when I thought that those geezers having their 25th reunion were one step from the grave.

The best part of the weekend was spending a ton of time with Carol! I hadn't seen her since 1980, so this was a complete and total good time. Carol is still the same - smart, funny, with the added wisdom that comes with age and three kids. She is such good sport and so much fun to be around!

And of course, Carol was pysched to try geocaching. And well, it took some arm twisting to convince me to do a cache or two...

We did three caches and the first one was Here Kitty Kitty on the college campus. The "kitty kitty" thing references the Southwestern College mascot - a black cat called "The Jinx". The cache location is on a pile of rocks referred to as "The Mound". Each year, a ceremony is held in which every student, faculty member, staff member, campus organization, etc., adds a rock to the mound. The rock I contributed during my senior year was a very small rock that I picked up at the pyramids in Egypt.

The cache hint indicated that the cache location was close to a rock painted with a partial geocaching logo and the jinx. Well, we found the rock straightaway and then we started looking high and low for the cache. We looked for 15 minutes - we kept going back to the rock - we'd move it around, look under the rock it was sitting on, etc. But no luck. Then Carol happened to pick up the jinx rock and turn it over - voila!!!! There was the cache!

It's quite clear that Carol is a natural born cacher!!!!

Anyhoo, I had a wonderful time this weekend. Kansas and Kansans are both very very special!

Top side of the rock. I love the paint job. The little jinx is quite cute!

Underneath the rock - and there's the cache!
