This is an old debate but new evidence from brain scanners is raising doubt about the theory that the same part of the brain is used for both activities. The National Post has a short summary of a new paper co-authored by Michael Tarr that appears in the Mar 28, 2002 issue of the Journal Neuron. ”
Vision and perception really isn’t my field anymore, but I still find it fascinating. I always wanted to play around with activation nets (a pale imitation of FMRI), but my advisor always said no (Hi Maggie!).
