“He was a verray parfit gentil knight.” —Chaucer

At three, I go down to get materials to complete my leftovers lunch.

A pretty Asian (Filipina?) girl young woman gets on the same elevator, soda in hand. I am studiously staring into the distance so as not to offend or creep her out. She looks at my bag of treats, says, “You’re getting lunch and I’m on my mid-afternoon soda break.”

“Slow metabolism.”

“I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.”

“Depends.” Note that this is patently unfunny. Nor is it particularly clever. Yet she laughs as she walks away (seventh floor—gotta remember these details!). This is a good sign, isn’t it?

Man I like the shirt/pants I’m wearing today. Must resist urge to wear it all week. Need sleep.
