Theology Notes
Theology is the queen of the sciences, and philosophy is her handmaiden.

This quote of Adam Curry quoting Evan Williams caught my attention.
Yesterday when reading the 'blah, blah, blah and blog' Wired article, something Evan said struck me right between the eyes; "[...] If you write everyday, your writing improves, your thinking improves."

Right on! The magic of blogging revealed at last.

Its brain-training.

I had just told my friend, Bill Lueg that I had found blogging to be a great way to do what I had wanted to do for years, which is to write. And the main reason I want to write is to clarify my thinking, especially in the area of theology.

There are several reasons why that by writing a weblog with Radio UserLand, I'm doing the writing that I never got around to before.

  1. Weblog entries are nice bite-sized little chunks that are not too overwhelming. Hopefully I will eventually write longer works, but this is better than nothing.
  2. Reading news articles and other people's weblogs can be an inspiration, and Radio's news aggregator helps me keep up with several favorite sources.
  3. Radio does most of the work for me. Without much effort on my part, I have the whole framework of a website pre-built. I just have to supply the words.
  4. Even though only two or three people are reading this, it is enough of an audience to motivate me to keep posting and to work to improve the quality of my writing. The potential, no matter how small, of being discovered by other readers provides even more motivation.

"Regardless of religious background or persuasion, people need a plan, a place and a purpose. More often than not those are found in some area of service. I find that the periods in my life where I have not been serving others are the most miserable periods I've faced." [Scripting News]

This is a cute story that asks the question, what if Steve Jobs never invented the Macintosh.
