The new generation of college students sees computer science as "some guy sitting behind a computer all day in a dark room" [here]. Enrollment is down as a result of the tech bust. On the one hand, this is a marketing problem that needs to be addressed. The stereotype is false, but it isn't really communicated well to the public. Hollywood continues this incorrect stereotype as well. On the other hand, few people think the tech bust is permanent and when it does bounce back, the current surplus of tech workers will quickly become a deficit. I guess it is ultimately good for me, because it means I will make more money :) |
The RIAA is kicking the hornet's nest.
The RIAA will probably become even more determined to continue in their pursuit of copyright violators now, but they are in for a big fight. As the RIAA pursues the use of hacking techniques to stop P2P sharing, they are going to end up pissing a lot of people off. It's going to come back to bite them in the end. |
I did a google search for "synthetic morphine" to see if there was such a thing, since my weblog name is a play on the drug name "morphine". Well, it turns out that OxyContin is sometimes called this [here]. Of course a "morpheme" is a very different thing [here]. 11:39:03 AM ![]() |
