Wow.  I'm back from my little jaunt in the White Mountains.  I had never done this ride so I wasn't sure what to expect.  We rode up the Kanc, up Bear Notch, up Crawford Notch, up Franconia Notch, and then Kingsman Notch.  My climbing legs were in rare form.  Coming down the last descent I hit 53.5 mph and had to pass a car on the left.  At the end of the ride I had 96.4 miles at 19.2 average speed.  Glorious!!  I'm going to have to get one of those topographical map programs so I can find out how many feet of climbing that was.  So.. what did you do with your day off?

In other cycling news Tyler Hamilton won a stage in the Giro yesterday, the third American ever to do so.  He won a time trial event - the race of truth - beating Gonchar who is the world tt champion.  He almost crashed on the last corner when is foot came out of his pedal.  Tyler is a great cyclist and a serious contender for this event.  Just stop crashing, Tyler!  Looks like he made a great move getting out of the shadow of Armstrong to lead CSC-Tiscali.
