Audiogalaxy agrees to filter songs. The Recording Industry Association of America says it has reached an out-of-court settlement with the free file-swapping service to filter copyrighted works. [CNET News.com]
Read this on Slashdot last night; blogging it today. AudioGalaxy is moving from a mode where songs are shared until the copyright holder says otherwise to a mode where AudioGalaxy must explicitly get permission for every song.
It doesn't matter that this isn't what the artists want. It's what the Entertainment Oligopoly thinks is in its best interest, and they have more lawyers. Note that the Entertainment Oligopoly didn't beat AudioGalaxy on the free market by competing to wind customers. That's 'cause there ain't a free market anymore.
