MS DRM OS, retagged 'secure OS' to ship with Longhorn?. The repositioning spin begins... [The Register]

Yep, this is where it starts; before too long you won't be able to buy a Wintel box that isn't as closed and proprietary as the XBox.

I haven't upgraded my Win2k machines because XP doesn't offer enough new functionality to make it worth the hassle of dealing with product registration and the way it constantly nags you to join Passport and all that nonsense.  If the next Microsoft OS requires special hardware to make its DRM work, I won't touch it with a ten foot pole.

I've used Microsoft OSes since MS-DOS 2.x, but I'll stop if they insist on shoving Digital Rights Management down my throat.
