Snack and Loki were out on the back deck today, catching some slightly filtered UV rays. I wonder if their brainwaves register similarly to those of practicing Buddhists, who, research suggests, are able to temper the amygdala, where human fear response resides. The other aspect of the idea of amygdala that fascinates me is that some researchers contend that the amygdala is also where humans feel their greatest pleasure, depending on which part is stimulated. The fight/flight or feel alright response. I suspect that someday, the same way we view the speculations of palmists and cranial researchers, we may look upon even what we're discovering using MRI's to be almost superstitious. 4:03:51 PM ![]() |
