My garage door works now. I feel like I'm truly part of the landed
gentry, with a stable for my horseless carriage out back. And Dave was
able to save the old doors. I wish I knew their specific era. As nice
as it would have been to get an automatic door, it would have required
reframing the entire front of the building. And now I have my cool hip
vintage doors, sliding open and shut. Ultimately, it's going to take
more time to go around and park in back, considering the hassle of
navigating one way streets and getting out of the car, opening the
door, getting back into the car, navigating the narrow turn, closing
the door before going into the house. But it will be nice to not worry
about someone crashing into my vehicle while they're driving down
Arsenal at 50mph. Or have to shovel snow and ice off in the winter. And
it will be easy to get out, - it's just tricky having two one way
streets going the wrong direction on either side of the block. Which
I'm actually not sure of - Portis might be one way going south. I may
go check now.
