Dave has the right idea, IMHO:

All around the blogosphere are notes that they'll be back in a week or so when the calendar has rolled over. No such luck with Scripting News, where this time of year marks a ramp up of activity.

Sorry I don't do Christmas. There I said it. I don't like the holiday. . .[Scripting News]

If I didn't have small children about the house I would pretty much skip Christmas myself. Let's get on with the work that needs to be done; why do we have to lose productivity for a whole friggin' month? And how about treating each other decently every day of the year instead of just in December?
