Coble Won't Discuss Civil Liberties
Rep. Howard Coble has quietly scuttled plans to participate in a forum on civil liberties and national security sponsored by Guilford College. Earlier, Coble withdrew as commencement speaker at his alma mater after students protested his remarks in support of interning Japanese-Americans during WWII. Coble, who holds a key Homeland Security post in the House, said commencement day should belong to the seniors. No word on why he's not going to make it tomorrow night.
