Et tu, Tony? The Bush administration has few more reliable cheerleaders than Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council. Now he's comparing FEMA and local government agencies involved in hurricane relief to F-Troop.

Did I mention that Alana Davis is the headliner on Saturday night after the Converge blog conference?

See, this is a weekend deal. There's the journalism confab hosted by the A&T journalism department on Friday, which is looking quite interesting.

Friday night, a cookout for conference attendees in the blog-crazed Aycock neighborhood, organized by blog-crazed neighbors David Hoggard, David Wharton, and Matt Gross. Also on Friday night, four venues host live music in downtown Greensboro.

Then on Saturday, also at A&T, we're putting on a show behind the barn and calling it a blog conference.

And on Saturday night, Ms. Davis will perform at Solaris.

Sunday, we sleep late.

The conferences are free, and if you have a conference badge the music is, too. Y'all come.

Lux et Umbra says Greensboro's Nussbaum business incubator is looking for a new director, "but don't bother to apply." Anyone close to that situation want to comment?

Troublemaker quits his blog, then unquits. "The tone of the Troublemaker will change to a more rough and direct approach and I want to apologize in advance to anyone offended."

I haven't commented on City Councilman Tom Phillips taking a blog hiatus, because Tom never blogged enough to really become an online fixture in Greensboro. He was often very good when he did -- not the best listener in the world, but his strong opinions carried weight. But he didn't have the time for it, or the passion for it to make the time, and he recognized that. I hope he'll recommit in the future.
