John Roberts, bowing to the inexorable pressure of this weblog (see post below) affirms a Constitutional right to privacy. 11:22:17 AM permalink comment [] |
I'm bemused when people rail against judges for discovering rights that aren't named in the Constitution. Not only does this seem like a good thing to me -- the more freedom and fewer constraints on liberty the better -- but the Ninth Amendment makes it clear that the Constitution is not meant to be a comprehensive and definitive list of our rights. Anyway...Armando says the question to ask John Roberts is about contraception, as in Griswold v. Connecticut: "It is my view that the greatest threat posed by John Roberts is to our right to privacy....it is imperative that Judge Roberts be asked about his views regarding a case that has been precedent for 40 years and has been repeatedly upheld by the Supreme Court, directly and indirectly, in numerous cases." 8:28:36 AM permalink comment [] |
