The Metropolitan Airport Commission has new maps on their noise site showing flight paths and noise levels from their monitoring stations. The maps are kind of slow and hard to use (Have to realize that the default date is today but the data ends like 10 days ago, so you get no data unless you go back to August). We live near the airport and I kind of cringe when guests are over and the conversation on the patio goes something like:
ME: " Yeah, I got me some stocks and bonds and a 20 gallon water heater and central air and .... "
DC9: VARRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMM !!!!!!! ......
Guest: "Gee, that was a doozy! "
Me: "yeah, but its only first thing in the morning and then all afternoon and all evening, so its not really so ....
DC9: "VAAARRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOO weeeeee-ooooo weeeeeee-oooooooooo OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "
Guest: "those older planes are a little louder, huh?"
