I went to the Terry Gross event at the "Historic State Theatre" tonight. Terry, interviewed by Kathryn Lanpher was spot on, a delight to listen to.   I think Lanpher - [some googlers spell it Kathryn Lampher] - felt the need to control the interview and kept interrupting Terry and violently changing the subject when there seemed to be a lot more to say about something. At one point, Terry had just finished explaining how she listened to her voice over and over again on tape to slow it down and get it to sound like it does. .. and then Lanpher breaks in with her fast squeaky voice about a totally different subject. The audience reacted like they had been slapped. I have to say that Lanpher did her job, got Terry to talk about herself and her work. The best part was when they played the Gene Simmons interview. It is worth a listen. She described an ordinary work day of hers. She pretty much works non-stop. As is the case with most people who have achieved excellence in something, she works her bony little ass off.
