Early Voting Begins in Arizona
Votin' Arizona--Tomorrow!.

Today's Arizona Daily Sun reports that the Grand Canyon state' s grassroots supporters have found a great way to show solidarity with Iowa's caucus goers. Instead of waiting two weeks for the February primary, they're voting tomorrow:

On Monday morning, Flagstaff supporters of Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean will wait for doors to open to the Coconino County Elections office so that they can vote early.

Although it is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the elections office will be open for early voting purposes. Monday is the first day people can vote early in the state's Democratic preferential primary. Tom Fry, the area coordinator for the Dean Campaign, said that it's part of a nationwide effort for Dean.

This will involve arriving at the office at 7:30 a.m., on a Monday, on a federal holiday. It shows commitment, but there will be coffee.

Tomorrow is the first day to vote in Arizona, and it' already under way in other states. Find out how by clicking your state:
Arizona, New Mexico, Maine, Michigan
California (begins Tuesday), Tennessee (begins Wednesday)
You do not have to give a reason to vote now. By voting now, you won't have to do it on election day, when traffic, weather, work, illness or any other factor can make it difficult to reach the polls. Also, if you vote now, you can spend election day volunteering to help get out the vote.

If you don't live in those states, but know someone who does, email them now and encourage them to vote Dean today. Other states allow absentee or early voting. Each state has different requirements, so click yours for details:

Oklahoma, Virginia, Delaware, South Carolina, Missouri

Remember: Iowa is not the end--it's the beginning. We've got the drive and the endurance for a fifty-state campaign, and already hundreds of volunteers are making plans to travel to New Hampshire, Arizona, New Mexico, and South Carolina. Join them!

Counselor, Teacher.... Arizona State Representative? Edward Z. Ableser announces his bid for state representative, District 17

The Committee to Elect Edward Z. Ableser is proud to formally announce his candidacy for State Representative in District 17, which encompasses Tempe and South Scottsdale. Early in October, with the encouragement from his students and colleagues, Edward Z. Ableser filed for an exploratory committee to run for State Representative. Since then he has been meeting with community leaders, speaking to community groups, talking with fellow neighbors and spreading his views about the future of Arizona and his District.

Edward has been an integral part of his community for years. With the City of Tempe, Mr. Ableser represented the students of Arizona State University as a liaison and was a member of the Interfaith Council. Mr. Ableser holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Chinese, and is currently finishing his thesis to receive a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology. Edward works as a School and Community Mental Health Counselor, working with students and families in Phoenix and Scottsdale. He is also an instructor at Arizona State University, teaching Academic Excellence in addition to Multicultural and Diversity Integration. Diane Spencer, one of Edward's students at ASU, said "Edward and his teachings on diversity have been an inspiration in my life. As one of his students, I saw the passion Mr. Ableser has for everyone and can envision him bringing integrity and hard work to the State of Arizona."

Edward Z. Ableser has a grassroots effort growing in Tempe and Scottsdale. Old and new friends have rallied behind him, contributing to his campaign and championing his election. Essam El-Dardiry, a volunteer in his campaign, feels that "after working with Edward for many years in leadership positions, I have seen him make tough decisions and lead under difficult situations. I am confident that Edward is the new voice of our Community and is the best person to represent District 17."
