Format Wars? Yuck.
This is looking pretty messy. It's 2004, and I feel the online music industry is at least 6 years behind where it could be. If I recall, music CD's caught on pretty well in the 1980's. The standard was accepted and we all proceeded to buy music. - G.S.
Which Format Will Win?. A pitched battle for control of the music-downloading business is raging among Apple (AAPL ), Microsoft (MSFT ), RealNetworks (RNWK ), and Sony (SNE ). Their weapons: software used to buy and listen to music downloads on computers and portable devices. Their goal: to become the industry standard for how music and movie downloads are delivered. The winner will command a lion's share of the thriving market for digital content and devices. [Zeropaid - The File Sharing Portal]

The Donald Trump Show
The Apprentice is pretty good in spite of it being reality T.V. Tonight's episode had some flaws.
The women's team has won four business contests so far and the men's team has won none. After a team loses, somebody gets fired by Donald Trump. Another guy got fired in tonight's episode.
The women won, but Mr. Trump took them aside for a moment and discouraged them from using their sexuality to make money and win the contests. In addition, I didn't think that any of the men deserved a termination, but the rules of the program say that somebody must to get the axe.
This is where the reality show is not at all real. First, people are fired when they'd probably be able to keep their job in real life. Second, Donald Trump is telling women, on an NBC primetime television show, not to be sexy! Yeah right!

Moblogging
Public Moblog: Have You Seen This Scarf?. If you haven't got a moblog yet, you're way behind the times. And you're not alone. I only just got around to starting my own moblog on TextAmerica. It's pure silliness: I've set it up as a sort of scavenger hunt, with this month's target being pictures of Burberry scarves or other accessories that seem to be all over Washington D.C. these days. For some reason they started to annoy me, so I thought it would be a good topic for a public moblog. You can see the pics at weatherman.textamerica.com, and you can submit your own pics directly to weatherman.cirrus(at)tamw.com. [Street Tech]

DVD Audio / Surround Sound Room For Hire - Via Ottmar Liebert
Surround Sound Room for Hire. As I have said before, I am not sold on DVD Audio. Primarily because it necessitates a special room in which one or two people have to sit in the "sweet spot" in order to hear all of the beauty of the DVD Audio surround sound delivery of music...I don't see people building houses with an extra "Surround Sound Music" room, except for a crazy few. Yes, I have a window-less room with a B&W THX 5.1 system with Dual Sub-woofers. But, I was lucky, because when I bought the house it had a rather large darkroom, which I converted to a Surround Sound room. Anyway, I think most people will most certainly not build a room or buy all of the equipment. So, is DVD Audio dead in the water? I had an idea the other day. Movie theaters suck, right? The projectionist doesn't focus properly, the sound is too loud or too soft, the floor is sticky from spilled sodas, the seat is full of popcorn and if the movie is rather long you can't pause for a moment to go to the bathroom, stretch your legs or get refreshments. Well, here is where my idea comes in: small surround sound rooms for rent. You pay by the hour, you bring a movie or music on DVD or CD and you sit down by yourself or with your date and you enjoy pristine sound, as loud as you like or as soft as you like. You can pause the movie, if you want a break. Maybe you can order refreshments or drinks..... [Ottmar Liebert]
