Addiction Appletized Time Wasting 101. PopCap Games, those people responsible for such time wasters as Bejewelled and Alchemy that show up on MSN Gaming Zone and Yahoo Games, have released another one that I'm hooked on: Insaniquarium. What you need to learn is learning Mike the Rebelutionary has a good rant: You don't need to know it!. The scariest thing is - he is so right. The thing that people need to learn in school/uni/etc is how to learn, and that comes down to knowing who to turn to, and which books to reach for. What's wrong with opening new windows ~  I ask with grace and humility: would someone explain to me why this is irritating? I don't understand why people don't like new windows.  ~  dws. ... please also add a user pref that turns off the "open in new window" feature that Zeldman uses on his weblog. It's one of the most irritating things a website can do. [Scripting News] [dws.] What is wrong with popping up a new window? It disobeys the principle of least surprise. It destroys the mental model of the user. Suddenly the backwards button doesn't work. Suddenly there is something else on the screen clammering for attention. Suddenly you wind up in the porn circle of death with 6 gadzillion windows shimmying around with dancing fucking gerkins.
