Get started with Castor JDO. Level: IntermediateMany enterprise projects call for a reliable method of binding Java objects to relational data -- and doing so across a multitude of relational databases. In this article, Bruce Snyder introduces you to the basics of working with Castor JDO, an open source data-binding framework that just happens to be based on 100 percent pure Java technology. [IBM Developer Works - Java Articles]
Something else to catch up with at some point.

Jamba?. Michael B. Allen has released jCIFS 0.7.0b2,an SMB client library written in pure Java. It supports Unicode, named pipes, batching, multiplexing I/O of threaded callers, encrypted authentication, full transactions, domain/workgroup/host/share/file enumeration, NetBIOS sockets and name services, the <a href="smb://">smb:// URL protocol handler, RAP calls, and more. The API is similar to java.io.File . This release simplifies theNTLM HTTP Authentication interface, adds a Network Explorer-like file browser servlet, and can read files larger than 4GB. jCIFS is published under the LGPL. [Cafe Au Lait] Cool! [rebelutionary]
I have no idea hat I would use this for, but what the hell. It looks cute. ;)

Struts Code Generator for Eclipse.. Easy Struts 0.5.0 just released. This is a code generator that seems like a nice product - I've installed it, but never used. I think these types of tools are great for developers that love to use an IDE. If you're like me and you prefer a good ol' text editor - this tool won't help you. [Raible Designs · v2.0]
The flash demo of this makes it look exceedingly sexy. Will have to play with it very soon.

Israeli firm unveils the 'copy-proof' CD. Embedded smart card the secret [The Register]
This technology faces the new technology roll out chicken and egg problem. This technology will not succeed unless it offers a large chunk of new functionality to users. It doesn't. In fact it offers less functionality than the current generation tech. Even if all the American, European and Japanese electronics companies stop making cd and dvd players today, I am certain that we will be able to source (legally, or illegally) chinese made media players.
Which reminds me. The reason Helix will succeed - Mickeysoft media player is about to become DRM'ified, and thus less useful. Helix will romp it in once this happens.

Does anyone know where *zilla originated? I thought that Mozilla, the open source web browser, was an original name. Since then I've seen Bugzilla, Davezilla, Clagnut changed to Clagzilla, now A Klog Apart has been changed to A Klogzilla Apart.
Does anyone know the origin of these *zilla terms? [Blogfish]
Well, the browser that became Netscape was always called Mozilla IIRC. As to the recent fad of blog renaming, it all comes down to Toho Vs Davezilla. Toho being a clueless bunch'o'lawyers representing the owners of the Godzilla franchise. Call it a touch of civil disobedience.

Institute for Applied Autonomy (IAA) - i-SEE "Now more than ever.". [Privacy Digest]
Check it out, then think about it. [McGee's Musings]
Think about how much data is being pushed around in this system. Think about what would happen if you wanted to actually find people in that datastream. Ugh. Personally I'm all for cameras everywhere if and only if they are broadcast live on duh internet. Level playing field and all that.
