Vivato has something truly unique here, it is just really expensive.

"After months of limited information, Vivato recently unveiled its first product along with pricing and availability. The Vivato Wi-Fi switch couples a phased-array antenna with an enterprise grade network gateway that can potentially provide longer range, higher throughput, and lower deployment costs.

The phased-array antenna allows individual beams of focused wireless signal to follow individual network devices across several hundred feet indoors -- an entire floor of a building more or less -- and at distances of up to four kilometers outdoors. An antenna mounted externally pointing at a building may be able to provide service for an entire facility, such as a hotel.

The first version of their switch is priced under $10,000 and serves 150 users using three beams; it's due to ship as soon as May. Each beam is a switched connection, offering full Wi-Fi speed without requiring channelization. The FCC approved Vivato's approach by agreeing that their design qualifies as point-to-point service."

Wow.  This video of Honda's bipedal robot, Asimo is pretty cool.  I've seen him in pictures as well as in Honda's advertisments and he is more convincing in motion than standing pretty.

coverWatched a great movie this weekend: Elling with my wife, bro and dad.  It has the foreign, feel goody-ness of Amelie, but with a fair amount of wit.  It made me grin because these full grown guys are cute.  Not bad for a random pick from the library

"40-year-old Elling--a sensitive, would-be poet, is sent to live in a state institution when his mother--who has sheltered him his entire life, dies. There he meets Kjell Bjarne, a gentle giant and female-obsessed virgin, also in his 40s. After two years, the men are released and provided with a state-funded apartment with the hope they will be able to live on their own. Initially, the simple act of going around the corner for groceries is a challenge, but through a friendship born of desperate dependence, the skittish Elling and the boisterous Kjell discover they cannot only survive on the outside, they can thrive. As their courage grows, the two find oddball ways to cope with society, striking up the most peculiar friendships in the most unlikely places..."
