CreativePro recently posted a very interesting article on shooting panoramas of groups of people, entitled "Bit by Bit: Preserving History with Panoramic Portraits." There are some fascinating example images including 63 park rangers at Yosemite, shot in front of Half Dome. The author talks about some of the issues that arise with group panoramas, and how he solves them.
