Over at DefenseTech they have a story on a new 360 spherical sensor packaged like a rubber tennis ball for use by troops in combat. It's meant to be thrown into position and then transmit what is visible using a omni-directional lens. It's called the Eyeball, from ODF Optronics.

I wonder if they are licensing the algorithms from iPIX?

Apple demos new high-quality video codec at NAB, from MacCentral. DIGIT has more on it as well. H.264 has a lot of buzz at the show, according to several news sites.
