I didn't know there was a problem finding a way to embed QuickTime content into webpages:

Developer tackles cross-platform QuickTime issue, from PC Pro.

"A Scottish Web developer has found a way to write code for playing QuickTime video clips in a Web browser that complies to W3C standards and will work in any browser."

Perhaps the Apple method described here of putting an embed inside an object doesn't comply with W3C standards? Then there is a chart which shows the results of browser testing. Netscape Communicator 4.8 crashes, and two other browsers show errors. Oh well, I guess these days the words "works in any browser" means anything but Netscape 4.8.

Using CSS to hide an object is clever, but exposes the website author to a new risk that the Apple method does not: if the user's browser has CSS support or JavaScript turned off, the method may well break down.

Purpose
VRlog provides news, developments and analysis of the virtual reality (VR) world from a nature photographer's perspective. Since I am not connected to or funded by any VR vendor, I intend to objectively appraise what's going on, and the direction VR is headed in. -- erik goetze
