I just returned from the Villecerf party, which is thrown by the residents of a large chateau compound, all Insead students.  Traditionally, it is the first party of each promotion, well attended, and this time was no exception.  There were probably upwards of three hundred people there, all in good spirits; it was the end of a long week and everyone was determined to have a good time.

The Villecerf compound was about 40 minutes away from campus; I picked up three others along the way and we made our way there around 10:30p.  We managed to get lost three times; the directions were not great and we weren't being particularly attentive to road names.  But got there we did, entering a 200-meter driveway to a set of buildings which used to house the servants of an old chateau; now it is home to 20 students.  The place was enormous, with a central courtyard around 20x50 meters in area.

They brought a local Fontainebleau DJ to play, which was unusual (normally they book someone from Paris), and shockingly, he was great!  A good mix of house and techno was enjoyed by many packed onto a small dance floor; the sound system they had installed could have filled a space twice that size.  I danced for the first time this year, and it felt wonderful.

There was a good mix of January and September students there (named for the start of each promotion; I think there are 250 in each class) and I got to chat with many old and new friends.  We left around two; things seemed to be winding down, though the remaining guests were concentrated around the DJ, who was just caning some techno to a willing crowd.  It was a very nice party; a good end to a good week.
