Lucky is studying for exams.  If you wonder what you will learn in International Political Analysis, you will (should?) be able to answer these past exam questions.  You'll also be a scintillating cocktail party guest.  Exams have several short answer questions and a choice of two long (<4 page) essay questions.  These are a selection of past long essay questions:

  • Does democracy promote growth?
  • Will the Euro currency survive?
  • How will East Asia evolve – more or less stability?
  • Do recent conflicts support Huntington’s clash of civilization theory?
  • Will cultural commonalities allow East Asia to resolve conflict peacefully?
  • To what extent will the US act as a “stabilizing hegemon” in the trade arena?
  • American hegemony: agree or disagree?  What happens if America declines?
  • Why is Europe more “integrated” than East Asia?  Should EA follow?
  • Fukuyama: Democracy will expand.  Agree or disagree?
  • Advising an MNE on new factory: which five factors most important to choose country?
  • Why are transatlantic relations strained?  How would you measure them?
  • Will China democratize?  Pre-conditions of democracy?
