Fine Paris with friends Early ride to CDG No sleep for Lucky
P5 has started and is in full swing. Classes seem to be going well though nothing mindblowing of note. Even the vaunted class "Power & Politics" has not changed my life (yet). Perhaps expectations are too high; perhaps our attention is focused on other things. More likely the course hasn't gelled and may do so shortly. Today's class, where the professor went on and on about something called "Machiavellianism" sent Lucky into an apoplectic fit, which prevented him from eviscerating the chap in class; he calmed down enough to explain to the professor later that Machiavelli did not advocate cheating, lying, obstructing progress, or emotional coldness; and if he continued to take lightly the smearing of this philosopher's name, Lucky would have none of it.
On the job front, the good news is that most of Lucky's friends have secured jobs, and good ones at that. Instead of the carnage of 2001/2002, it seems that people are finding reasonable positions, and some have even found the beginnings of exciting careers. This is extremely encouraging, and beyond expectations.
For Lucky, the search continues. Alumni seems to be returning his calls, and his contacts are proving to have some value. But the part about jobhunting is that it is a horrible, stressful experience until you have offers that you like. And then it's cake.
Classes that Lucky is taking:
- Management Decision Making
- Power & Politics
- Applied Corporate Finance
- Financial Statement Analysis
- Models for Strategic Planning
Ok, so he's not actually taking all of these courses. But he wishes he were.
