Yes, I like Wired News a lot.Whatever. Linux Feels the Corporate Love rekindles the question: Can I switch BabyUniverse.com to Linux or FreeBSD? Besides their infamous security holes, Microsoft wares get expensive when you are running dual CPU servers (MS SQL Server licensing is per CPU); add a second set of licenses to keep a secondary SQL server online for live replication (if you keep the extra server offline, you can legally avoid the extra licenses).
If you want to do server clusters with Windows, you need a more advanced ($) version of that, too. And, I would likely have to migrate from Win2000 to whatever they are selling now, wouldn't I? Just as I can no longer purchase SQL Server 7, only SS 2000. Which means upgrading existing production servers or having a mixed environment. I think the new version is .NET Server, a product admittedly pushed out the door by Microsoft before it was ready.
