The story of starving Zambians vs. genetically modified American grain makes the BBC News. [Thanks again, Beki.]
Comments in the article by Andrew Natsios, director of the Agency for International Development, demonstrate either a complete "disconnect" with the Zambians or a carefully-worded attempt at corporate spin (to mitigate this bad PR for GM foods on behalf of the grain donors).
Note to Mr. Natsios: The Zambian people are willing to eat the grain. They do not want GM crops growing in their country, thus they do not want any of GM seeds in their country. (Unmilled grain= seeds!) Stop trying to make them sound foolish for turning down this questionable gift.
Note #2 to Mr. Natsios: Don't worry, most American people will eat and grow the GM stuff, as they are being given little choice and even less information.
