John Robb writes: "Wow.  I have ramped up my portfolio by 30% in a week of trading on HSX (this puts me within a 1/2 a percentage point of the top 10 players this week -- out of 300,000 + players).  Update:  I am now well above that and should be in the top ten as of COB today.  I have found handicapping movies just prior to their release gives me the best return."

Anatomy of an embryonic identity-theft-by-email: " I would like to inform Kuro5hin of an identity thief-by-email I seemed to have caught. The question is, what should I do? I have informed Yahoo, but have received a simple form letter in return. I have been using the spam filter of Mac OS X for about a year, and the effectivity has varied a lot, getting as low as 70% of received spam messages. On the other hand, currently the filter is performing excellently: 239 recognized spam messages out of 266 messages received in one week. Thus, the filter recognized 90% of spam. Not bad. And apparently there were no misclassifications of legitimate messages as spam.
