*Lex Loci (the law of the place)

During Spring '01, I attended Prof. Berman's Cyberspace Law course at the UConn Law School. Amongst the several cases under study (including Napster and the DVD Open Source cases), a notable one was the 'Yahoo-French' case. It brings a multi-dimensional legal bearing in Cyberspace - the First Amendment Rights and the Nation States' Rights to apply law in Cyberspace. Yahoo, whose offices and servers are based in California, leveraged their position in the US Federal courts after having lost in the French courts. This legal case may have future implications for Groove Telespaces and is well worth reading about. If cross-border telespaces are a part of your business transactions - under which nation state's jurisdiction does the Groove Telespace lie ?
