Smelly Art

<SMELL="#23238E">

Aromachology is the study of how aroma effects the body and the mind. *

Aromatherapy is the use of plant oils (often by infusion) to help one feel better.*

There seems to be various lists as to just what smell does what. Not to say that more, formal, scientific approaches are being tried. (Thanks, E. Heuberger)

For the use in an art piece, or where smell is being used in a meta-informatic (just made that word up) sense, we might differentiate between what the aroma may do to one Vs. one's conscious understanding of what that aroma implies.

A ring box scented with Lily of the Valley (said to be a potent aphrodisiac) carries a different conscious message to those who understand what fragrances mean, as well as a different possible result, when compared to a ring box scented with Tangerine and Cinnamon (calming with antiseptic properties.)

Even for those who do not believe in the bodily effect of a fragrance, it is possible to at least reference the understanding of that fragrance, and convey a message. (psychic not physic.)
