Miscellany

§ - So bloggers, what would you do? - "I never even asked for people to change their opinions on the subject. I DID ask for the insulting comparisons to stop." - What BeerMary is going through is the main reason I don't have comments enabled here. (Not that I get into controversial stuff very often.) Just don't have the energy to deal with crackpots anymore—I'm getting old! (51st birthday today to remind me.) My advice for Mary if the harassment continues would be to report the jerk to his ISP since his activity is probably against their Terms of Service. Also would be worthwhile checking with your local police department—they might be helpful, though I gather that depends mostly on how internet savvy the local officials are.

§ - Lab's attack on guide dog angers owner - "This is not an animal control issue. This is a crime. I want this woman arrested."

§ - Environmental agency to spray radioactive wastewater into Gulf to prevent 'ecological disaster' - Does that sound as wrong to you as it does to me? Reminds me of the idiots cleaning up an oil spill who rejoiced that so much of the oil evaporated. (So why was it better in the air than on the ground????) Just moving waste around doesn't change what it is!

§ - Study links snoring kids, hyperactivity - "Kids who snore may be prone to acting up in class."

§ - Euro Scheme Makes Money Talk - "If you write a check, the instrument itself bears your name and other data. Credit cards have an obvious audit trail; traveler's checks have one as well. But always, until now, cash payments have been mostly untraceable."
