Just needed to get out of the house and thankfully the weather cooperated by being quite a bit cooler than yesterday. (When you drive a dark-colored car with no air conditioning and are frequently stuck in traffic you learn the true meaning of "swelter.") So I headed off to White Center to meet up with my friend Melvin who drives for Metro and would be having his layover there in about half an hour.
I arrived a few minutes early and caught this view of the 54 on layover across the street. (Coach 2309, for those of you who want those details.)
And now Melvin has arrived driving the 60. (Coach 3310.)
Road work on Des Moines Memorial Drive. For the first time in weeks I guessed right! Stopped at the light on the way home and looked over at the other road I usually take to arrive at this intersection and saw yet another crew at work. (There are so many repair and improvement crews working on roads locally these days that travel time even just to the local grocery store can be frustratingly long.) It was at this point I realized that for the first time in months I had made my entire trip to White Center and back to Des Moines without any delays due to orange cones and flaggers! Yay!
Flagpole at Des Moines Memorial Park. Someday I'm going to have to get ambitious enough to get out of the car and get some good photos of this local landmark. Unfortunately, the "park" is basically just a traffic island and parking is pretty much non-existant.
