I am a huge fan of the IntelliJ Java development environment. Version 3 was released about a month ago, but I had to wait until this week for the Mac OS X version.
Although I still like to use Emacs with ant build files for lots of quick coding, for most development, a refactoring code browser is required - it is too difficult to get design right the first time, so it is important to have tools that can slice and dice classes, rename methods and variables, etc.
I would also like to thank IntelliJ for their generous upgrade policy: since I purchased the last major release after January 1, 2002, the new major release is a free upgrade.
The EJB support looks very good, but I have not used it for a project yet.
