More on Apple's New Online Music System Well, I have been voting for Apple's great new online music system with my wallet (or should I say my credit card :-)
Seriously, they seem to have hit everything just right with this system. I do have a problem that iTunes does not recognize my external 3rd party CDR burner (so I can not generate audio CDs to listen to on our hi-fi in the living room) but I am working on that problem.
iTunes is a great general music appliance (and useful for listening to streaming audio conference talks, etc. that are available).
Anyway, I like to have music on while I write code, and the new iTunes and Apple's new service is great and fits right into my work flow.
So far, I have purchased Quicksilver Messenger Service's "Pride of Man" and Johnny Winter's "Highway 61 Revisted".
So far, the DRM aspects of this system don't bother me at all.
I am hoping that once big business (in this case the music companies and the movie studios) learn that they can make lots of $$ if they play nice with consumers. Next up: if my computer where hooked up to our TV, I would like to be able to get videos online, packaged for 1 or 2 views in a 24 hour period - and I would like to pay just half of what I pay to rent videos at our local video stores.
