Dave Winer is asking PWB's (People with Blogs) to point to his piece yesterday on how candidates should leverage the blogging world. It's a good piece, and worthy of every campaign staff's review... [Escapable Logic]

I think the commentary on Escapable Logic is worth reading, too, so I'll point to Dave by way of. I'm all excited after listening to General Clark in a way that I haven't been by Howard Dean, but that is all impulse. I need to apply some more intellect. At a minimum, I am intrigued by this whole DeanSpace thing. I assume the software could be applied to any campaign. Wonder if it will be.

Making devices more aware of context is a good thing, IMO. The article mentions that the prototype device in question cannot distinguish between sitting at a computer and sitting on a bus. I'd think that the presence of the Bluetooth dongle on my computer could help that. I'd like to see similar bits of hardware that phones could respond to at conference tables, etc.

Saw General Wesley Clark on Bill Maher's new show this morning. (I TiVoed it, so I'm not sure when it first ran.) This is purely a gut reaction, as I have to admit that I really know almost nothing about him other than he is a retired general from Arkansas, but I have to say that I was really impressed. First, when Maher asked him whether this generation was up to making the "generational commitment" that Condoleeza Rice says is required in Iraq, he said that he thought it was capable of whatever was required so long as the government was honest with it and gave it clear reasons. (He noted that, in contrast, this administration had baited and switched.) Second, he was proud to declare himself a liberal and noted that this country was founded as a liberal democracy by men who believed in reason rather than divine revelation. (These are obviously not direct quotes, but I think they are pretty accurate.)

I have some research to do, but I'm more hopeful (with respect to national politics) than I've been in a while. General Clark has not announced, but just hearing a potential candidate making comments that resonate so strongly makes a big difference.
