Having recently mentioned his cover of Hurt and Hank Williams' "I Dreamed About Momma Last Night", I was greatly saddened to hear of Johnny Cash's passing away. Like Todd, I can remember listening to Johnny Cash on my dad's old 8-track. Unlike Todd, I hadn't listened to him again much since until recently. I think that his recent work is going to expose him to a new generation, and I am glad he could do that before leaving.

I've mentioned my desire for an iServe in some prior posts. I'm excited to find some other bloggers who would be interested in seeing such a thing--including Nicest of the Damned and Spamdude. Santiago has already gone so far as to produce a product web page. (Impressive!)

I'm using an old iBook as a server of sorts for sharing iTunes, serving music and photos to my TiVo 2, and serving as a print server. I have a TiBook and my wife has recent model iBook. We don't need any more laptops for our individual use, and I wouldn't buy new desktop or laptop just to sit in a closet. I believe I would buy an iServe, though. What's more, I think people without Macs might even buy one. Rather like the iPod, the iServe could be positioned as a dedicated device that works with Windows and just happens to come from Apple. It could serve files (and printers) via Samba. It could serve music via iTunes. (I assume iTunes for Windows will be able to share just as iTunes for MacOS can.) E-mail via IMAP. The list goes on and on. All of its services could be made accessible via a web browser for Windows users. Delivering a Rendezvous plug-in for IE would make finding these administrative interfaces a piece of cake.

The article on Nicest really goes into so much depth that I can't add much. I hope Apple is listening. I think the blogging on this suggests some demand.

(Thanks to 0xDECAFBAD for the pointers to Nicest's and Spamdude's posts.)

I mentioned my use of the Litany Against Fear in meetings in an earlier post. Now from 0xDECAFBAD we get the Litany Against Meetings.

If you (like me) are not among the people Simon Cozens asked to tech. review his article, you can get your hand slapped here. Sounds like and interesting article, so I'll see what can be gleaned from the blog post he references.

Thanks to 0xDECAFBAD for the leak.
