I was recently asked whether I could extract some data out of a dBASE system. It has been a very long time since I ran across dBASE, but I figured I could work something out. I wasn't all that surprised to find that O'Reilly's Safari service didn't have any dBASE books. I was surprised to find a version of dBASE still being sold (and apparently maintained/updated) at dBASE.com.

Wild.

Went to Right Wing News to read the interview with Milton Friedman and ran across the Gratuitous Republican Babe Pic of the Day. Of course, this is just an excerpt from the larger collection at the JerseyGOP web site's Republican Babe of the Week section.

The respect for women that these sites demonstrate is clear.

Are there liberal sites with stuff like this? I'm guessing not. I hope not.

P.S. Noticed that Ashley Judd got crossed off the list of past Republican Babes of the Week. I wonder what she did.

P.P.S. There is a corresponding Dude of the Week, but far fewer are wearing bathing suites or in suggestive poses. Strange.

is where I drive. The one time I did drive on the left, I had a hell of a time figuring out where the left side of the rental car was and clipped the passenger-side mirror just pulling out of the rental agency garage.

You can find much more about the driving (and boating and walking and flying ...) habits of people around the world in this article. I was particularly pleased to find the story of Sweden switching from left to right recounted, as I've told it for some time, but couldn't remember why I knew it. I've never noticed the revolving door at the Tavern at Phipps that is mentioned in the article. I'll have to check that out on the way home.

is how I sleep, which according to this study means that I have a "social, easy-going personality." That sounds nice. Hope its true. Don't know how much my sleeping position reflects my personality, though, as I think it results from a time when I had to sleep very still lest my mattress fall to the ground. (It was an old bed and some of the slats just barely reached across.)
