Rising To The Top
Lately, I have encountered several acquaintances who have found themselves in precarious situations. Not that any of these circumstances are unique or even rare, but the fact that they have brought these issues upon themselves. Strange this phenomenon, that seems prevalent among some people to follow a path that they know will end in misfortune. And once they find themself in a particular calamity, they set about to find a resolution. It is almost as if they wish to create hardship and difficulty just so that they can figure a way out of it. To me, that seems a rather futile attempt at life and definately a serious waste of precious time and energy. While life does throw obstacles in our way from time to time, I have always held to the notion that one should never purposely waste any resource. Perhaps we should take a lesson from the tiny ladybug. Brightly colored to warn any enemy not to attempt any harm, she slowly and methodically goes about her business. She looks for no turmoil, no confrontation. When she encounters an obstacle, she attempts to find a way around it and if she senses any danger, she climbs ever higher to reach a pennacle from which she can fly to safety.

It is one of man’s curious idiosyncrasies to create difficulties for the pleasure of resolving them.-Joseph De Maistre
