A picture named cannabis tea.jpg
BrandRepublic: "An ice tea containing cannabis extract will go on sale in UK health food shops this week, targeted at the soft drinks market with the tagline 'Refreshment for the enlightened'.
C-Ice Swiss Cannabis Ice Tea, originally from Austria, is already very popular in mainland Europe. The narcotic element of the plant, THC, has been removed from the drink, making the product legal."

World Peace Forum: "It seems to me that there are three terrible dangers facing the world.
- The first, global warming, everyone seems to know about because it has received so much attention, although despite its urgent importance there has been only relatively modest political action so far.
- The second threat is the very real and increasing dangers of nuclear proliferation, and the dangers of terrorists acquiring nuclear materials and weapons.
The collapse of the May 2005 non-proliferation talks, mostly due to U.S. intransigence, is a tragedy. And, despite the importance of nuclear proliferation, I doubt if one in a thousand are even aware of or concerned with the issue. The Bush administration failed to send a single high-ranking official to the May talks, even though they were held in New York with 153 nations in attendance.
- The third issue, the weaponization of space, may represent the greatest and most urgent danger for the very future and the survival of our civilization.
There is already an abundance of irrefutable evidence that the United States intends to place weapons in space, beginning as early as 2008. Both the Russians and the Chinese know this, and both understand that although they strongly oppose the weaponization of space, they will have no choice but to deploy their own offensive and defensive space weapons, regardless of the potentially cataclysmic consequences."

Campaign for Cooperation in Space: "If the United Nations General Assembly fails to approve a Space Preservation Treaty by October 24, 2005, then the General Assembly shall convene a Space Preservation Treaty Conference to ban all space-based weapons and warfare in space."

Remember that many deranged fundamentalists, and George W. Bush is one of them, are looking forward to Armageddon. They are not Christians simply because they endanger God's creation.
BaltimoreSun: "For thousands of years, prophets have predicted the end of the world. Today, various religious groups, using the latest technology, are trying to hasten it. Their end game is to speed the promised arrival of a messiah. For some Christians this means laying the groundwork for Armageddon."

There is a lot of confusion about the issue of 'net neutrality'. On the one hand it seems natural that everyone has a right to an internet connection. But who is 'everyone'? Is it us? Or is it the big corporations like Microsoft, Google, Yahoo, Amazon and eBay? In that case would 'neutrality' mean they have the right to block anyone they don't want to connect?

WashingtonPost: "Net neutrality, which is shorthand for network neutrality, is one of two possible answers to the following legislative question: Should cable and telephone companies be allowed to charge add-on fees to others for access to their networks?
At its heart, then, the battle is commercial - over who pays how much for improvements to the Internet that we all use and sometimes love.
[The contra party says]: 'The so-called 'net neutrality' provisions would [take] control away from consumers and [put] government in the role of predicting the future of the Internet.'
[The pro party]: 'The big phone and cable companies convinced the FCC to give them control over the Internet.' The pro-net-neutrality group is called It's Our Net. Its funding is provided by such big online firms as Amazon.com Inc., eBay Inc., Microsoft, Google and Yahoo Inc."

The only thing I know is that I don't want anyone to decide what I publish and I want a connection at an affordable price. In this fight between two lobbies, the cable companies who want more money and the internet giants, it seems the better choice for the customer is to go with the 'net neutrality' camp.

AlterNet: "A videotaped recording of a Marine singing about a shootout with an Iraqi family has war critics up in arms about U.S. troops' open hostility to Muslims and Arabs."

RINF: "Despite the 'yes, sir' attitude of senior military officers toward the Bush administration's illegal policies, there is resistance within the US military to the War on Iraq. Military personnel know they have the right and duty to refuse illegal orders, including the order to deploy to an illegal War. They know the United States executed German and Japanese military officers and civilians for their participation in wars of aggression in World War II. They know that the Nuremberg principles adopted by the international community after World War II require civilians and military personnel to stop their government from committing illegal acts. Those in the military who dissent and resist what they know are illegal actions of the Bush administration are persons of the highest courage and conscience."
