Guardian: "President Bush spared former White House aide I. Lewis 'Scooter' Libby from a 2-year prison term in the CIA leak case Monday, delivering a political thunderbolt in a highly charged criminal case. Bush said the sentence was just too harsh. Bush's move came just five hours after a federal appeals panel ruled that Libby could not delay his prison term.
'Libby's conviction was the one faint glimmer of accountability for White House efforts to manipulate intelligence and silence critics of the Iraq war,' said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. 'Now, even that small bit of justice has been undone.'
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said Bush's decision showed the president 'condones criminal conduct'."

George W. Bush not only condones criminal conduct, he aids and abets criminals and is a criminal himself. Bush is the worst president in American history. He ought to be arrested for abuse of power.
At the same time people are put in prison for driving without a licence. America has become a farce.

IPS: "A major civil society meet here was clear on what has been missing so far in the development dialogue - a 'human rights approach' to poverty and hunger.
Through the Jun. 28-30 Conference of United Nations' NGOs (CONGO) at the Civil Society Development Forum held in Geneva, co-hosted by the U.N. Millennium Campaign, the sense was that only a 'global partnership' could eradicate poverty and hunger by 2015 as targeted.
While global wealth has increased manifold, some 840 million people are still denied the right to food. Conversely, 1.2 trillion US dollars are spent on arms annually by countries, but what is the proportion of spending on education? Another challenge was that a large amount of revenue generated by developing countries was spent on paying debts."
