BNN: "New British Security Minister, Admiral Sir Alan West, says the country faces a possible 15-year battle against Islamist terrorism.
He also maintains the current risk of attack is elevated and has increased in the past 16 months to its highest level ever."

The 'surge' is not working. Neither will 15 years suffice to bring peace. What is needed is total withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan. It is ruining the Middle East and it is ruining our Western economies.
These wars cannot be won and those who think so are stark raving madmen. The only thing that can reduce 'terrorism' is withdrawal of troops. Let the most powerful faction in those countries take over. There is nothing that can be done about that. America has only made sure that the most despotic rulers will take over; they have thrown the world back some fifty years. There is only one option: GET OUT NOW!

NYTimes: "It is time for the United States to leave Iraq, without any more delay than the Pentagon needs to organize an orderly exit."

"Madam Speaker:
It is time to impeach George Bush and Dick Cheney.
We all know the case for doing so: the litany of this administration's offenses is long and tragic, the damage they have wrought to our nation and the principles it was founded upon profound."

CommonDreams: "Cindy Sheehan, the fallen soldier's mother who galvanized the anti-war movement, said Sunday that she plans to run against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi unless she moves to oust President Bush in the next two weeks."

CounterPunch: "The latest poll by American Research Group, showing that 54 percent of Americans favor impeaching Vice President Dick Cheney, and that 46 percent favor impeaching President Bush, is encouraging news for impeachment advocates. Despite a corporate media blackout on impeachment that means almost nobody in the country knows that there is already a Cheney impeachment bill in the House with 14 co-sponsors (HR 333), over half the country nonetheless wants Cheney to get the boot.
And despite House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's insistence that 'impeachment is off the table', almost half the people in the country say they want the president impeached."

If the Democrats don't oust Bush, the Republicans will do it and win the next elections.
In 'normal' American circumstances the president would have been 'taken out'. That this has not yet been done, surprises me. But the GOP may find a way to do this democratically. And in that case the Democrats have no chance in the elections.
