Friday, of course
"This plane may remind you of some things you used to know: that life
is in the moment, joy matters more than money, the world is a beautiful
place, and that dreams really, truly are possible."
--Lane Wallace
I've never learned the skills of a pilot, never experienced the
sensation of flight other than as a passenger. But each time I stand
next to an airplane I wonder what it would be like to drive it
into the sky.........

SCO5 take away
This conference has been interesting. Lot's of smart, scientific types.
Many detailed presentations. More than I can begin to absorb by
exponential factors.
But the realization is clear. We need more bandwidth. The research
community in Utah must have multiple high-speed links connecting
facilities in the state and to researchers throughout the country and
world. It has been eye-opening to start to understand what is happening
in the super computing community.
Another stark realization is the global reach of research work. Most
papers are being presented by non-US scientists. Nearly every project
has international representation and many are void of US ties. Much
cerebral functions firing in and around Seattle. Very
impressive.........
