Joel has a great article on the unproductive VC-entrepreneur relationship. It seems to me that to overcome some of these problems, VCs need to move from the "I'll know a good opportunity when I see one" model to "I have deep insight into some domains with great potential, and I am going to go look for good startups in those domains".

NYT: "In a car crash, a child in a booster seat has less than half the risk of injury of a child wearing only an adult seat belt, a study of more than 3,600 crashes has found. But children in the study's age group, 4 to 7, are not covered by the child safety laws of most states. The seats are called belt-positioning boosters because they raise the child's torso to a level that makes the adult lap and shoulder belts safer, but the study found few children were using them." Very true. Car seats are usually one of the very first vestiges of pre-schooler-hood to go. Most states require a car seat until the age of 4, which is about the same age kids outgrow the stage 2, front-facing car seat. So most parents never even purchase the stage 3 booster.
