Do Not Call! Spam may be getting ever-worse, but some things are improving. The "Do Not Call" lists--I've used them in Indiana and now in Minnesota--seem to work very well. I even put our cell phone numbers on the list. Now the next step is posting the "No beggars or peddlers" sign the Woodbury police department distrbibutes! It's annoying, but restricting "printer-friendly" versions of stories to paying subscribers seems like a fair business tactic for web content publishers. It doesn't get in the way of search engines or deep linking, but it does still provide some incentive--albeit most likely slight and insufficient--for readers to pay for content. 1:42:52 PM    comment []
